Here at Pitmans in Blandford, Dorset we also sell all packing materials and supplies required when moving. Some of the items we offer are:
- Brand new, large cardboard removal boxes or Cartons
- Double walled boxes ideal use for china and glass, clothing, bedding, etc
- Bubble wrap
- Packing paper
- Packing tape
Our cardboard boxes are printed with space for you to fill in to help you identify which room in the house they need to go on the moving day.
Brand new small cardboard removal boxes or cartons and double walled boxes are ideal for heaver items like books, food stuff and some heavy china.
On packing your items, if you are packing yourself, please be mindful that the weight of these boxes can be great. Packing the larger boxes (Pack2s) with books for example would make the boxes too heavy for the our moving teams to carry and they therefore may need to be re-packed.
The Smaller cardboard boxes used (Pack6) are ideal for packing books, and foodstuff such as tins, dried food and oils.
The boxes we supply are what we in the removals industry refer to as pack 6 and pack 2 boxes.
To make the packing a little more secure, we recommend using parcel tape along the bottom on the leaves of the box (no need to fold the leaves of the cardboard box into each other) and then fill the box, and tape along the top. In our experience, taping the cardboard boxes this way helps in unpacking as you just get a knife and cut along the tape itself, and start unpacking.
Brown, white and clear vinyl type is sold at all different cost. The brown is the most common tape used on our removal’s cardboard boxes, we find it works well and sticks well.
Packing paper is sold in 5kg and 10kg reams. The average 3-bedroom house for a removals company to pack will take about 15kgs, around 45 cardboard packing boxes and 3 rolls of tape.
It’s always a good practise to write on the tape once you have packed the cardboard boxes in permanent marker indicating which room the box is for and its contents.
We do offer free cardboard boxes to customers that have booked a removal day and have paid in advance for their removals. The cardboard boxes once used, have to be returned back to us here in Blandford Forum for recycling or reuse.
